Slapshots: Weekend Edition

Hey Guys, As you can see I’m back to posting and hopefully It will stay that way this time.

• The Wings have reassigned Brunnstrom to the Griffins as expected. Chris Connor showed enough for the organization to give him another look and Brunny is now going to get an opportunity to earn his stripes down in the AHL. Also congrats to Fabian for finally having his baby, Alexander!

• Go Check Out Who Earned the 3 stars for November.
• As Always Jordan from the NOHS does a great job with the Photoshops, go check out where Hudler has gone this time, on Happy Hudlers Excellent Adventure 2!
• Go over to WIIM to check out who got the CSSI Points after last night victory.
• Is Jimmy Howard hockeys best goalie? Abel To Yzerman had a good post on that topic.
• Former Wings play-by-play man Dave Strader will call Sunday’s Wings vs Avs game as Ken Daniels handles arrangements for his father’s passing.

Slapshots:Wings Tie Up Kronner for 7 more years, Call up Gustav Nyqvist

A bunch of Wings news today for you guys so lets get started!

• Fabian Brunnstrom has cleared re-entry waivers and according to Anser Kahn has been reassigned to the Griffins.
• In place of Brunnstrom the Wings have called up Gustav Nyqvist. Nyqvist played very well for us during the preseason and it should be exiting to see him play. He will start against the Wild tommarow night.
• And now to the big news, Nicklas Kronwall has been resigned for the next 7 years. I am going to write up a post after im done with this.
• The Guys over at Winging it in Motown had a nice write up on the Wings current cap position.I highly recommend you go an check it out.

Slapshots: Mrazek, Capitals and Jerebko on Skates

• Wings sign Petr Mrazek to entry level contract – The Detroit Red Wings have signed goaltending prospect Petr Mrazek to an entry level contract.  Mrazek, who attended the Wings rookie camps each of the past two falls, also won the F.W. Moore Trophy as the freshman goalie with the lowest GAA in the OHL in 2009-10 (3.00). Mrazek will begin his pro career next season, either with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) or the Toledo Walleye (ECHL). Mrazek is in my opinion our second best goaltender prospect.
•  Piston forward Jonas Jerebko was skating with the Wings yesterday. He actually shoots pretty well but fell down have the time.
• If the Wings win tonight they will go 6-0-0 for the first time since 1972-73.
• The Wings are having trouble getting the funds in order to build a new arena. Hopefully they would name it Amway arena!

Slapshots(8/19): I’m really tired

Well Im back from my airplane ride across the Atlantic and I am so tired, but nonetheless there is hockey news so I guess I have to do a slap shots edition.

• Chris Drury, One of the guys I wanted the Red Wings to sign has officially retired. He has been held back with injury’s this past year.
• The Red Wings TV schedule has been released. A total of 14 games will be shown on National television.
• ESPN did an article on some of the standouts for this years R&D camp. Check it out as it gives some of you mockdrafters and insight on some of the guys the Wings might consider drafting next June.
• Gordie Howe and Mario Lemioux have been announced as the final two legends for NHL 12.

Slapshots(8/13):Lions, Prospects

• On September 10th the Wings will be having a Wing Fest at the Joe, for more info click on the link.
• The Wings have released the prospect roster of who will go to Traverse City to fight for a contract.
• The only new player who wasn’t at the prospect camp earlier is goalie Ramis Sadikov.
• The Detroit Lions crushed the Cinncineti Bengals 34-3 in their preseason opener. There is still work left to be done but there is a lot of excitment going on now for Lions fans.
• Tommarow is the Datsyukian Dekes 1 Month anniversary. I will post something special so wait and see!
